Rick Visconte Headshot

DOVER, NH – There is a new leader at the Mass General Cancer Center at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

Rick Visconte has been named senior director of cancer care services, effective August 12. Visconte has more than twenty years of combined experience in nursing and clinical leadership, business development, and operations. He has a master of science in nursing, is a registered nurse, and is board-certified as a nurse executive advanced. Working closely with medical director Dr. Arul Mahadevan, Visconte will oversee the center’s coordination and collaboration with clinical cancer leaders across Mass General Brigham.

“Rick’s clinical and leadership experience spanning several prestigious institutions and disciplines make him the ideal person to lead the Mass General Cancer Center at Wentworth-Douglass,” said Darin Roark, president and chief operating officer. “His leadership will ensure our patients, survivors, and their families, continue to receive the high-quality care that they deserve.”

Visconte most recently served as director of nursing and clinical operations at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In this capacity, he led initiatives to enhance oncology care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services. Previously, Visconte was director of nursing and patient care services at Tufts Medical Center Cancer Center for both inpatient and ambulatory cancer services. He also served as director of nursing and patient care services at Tufts Children's Hospital, overseeing all pediatric inpatient services. He began his nursing career as a specialized pediatric intensive care unit nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Visconte earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Regis College and a master of science in healthcare administration from Capella University. He replaces Susan Gallagher, former assistant vice president of cancer services, who retired in April.
